Since Viggo Mortensen is currently out there promoting “The Road,” media outlets are taking this opportunity to find out whether there is a chance for him to join the cast of “The Hobbit.”
Mortensen’s Aragorn character was very memorable in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, but does not appear in “The Hobbit,” except in the supplemental appendices from “Lord of the Rings” that tied the two stories together.
Mortensen told MovieWeb that Peter Jackson and Guillermo Del Toro are looking for ways to incorporate many of the actors from the first trilogy into “The Hobbit,” even some who’s characters do not appear in the actual novel.
“My character is around at times — in the middle,” Mortensen told ComingSoon. “But it would only be if they made a second movie or connecting movie that connected ‘The Hobbit’ to ‘The Lord of the Rings’ that I might appear, which would be great.“
