Minnesota unemployment gives rise to debt of $155 million!



Unemployment in Minnesota is still rising and it’s becoming a matter of concern. The condition is so bad that the state had to borrow money from the federal government to pay unemployment benefits during the ongoing economic crisis.

The state’s unemployment insurance system is currently under a staggering depth of $155 million, according to a new report. . The average weekly benefit in Minnesota is $359.50 which is the 7th highest in the country and the state is behind California ($4.6 billion) and Michigan ($2.8 billion) in terms of debt.

States in America have their own unemployment insurance system, because of a compromise worked out in 1935.
