Lady GaGa: 'You Won't See me Falling Out of Clubs'

LADY GaGa insists you’ll never see a photo of her falling out of a nightclub — because she’s too focused on her career to go out every night and get drunk.

“I don’t go to nightclubs,” said the Bad Romance singer. “You don’t see pictures of me falling out of a club drunk. I don’t go — and that’s because I usually go and then, you know, a whiskey and a half into it, I got to get back to work. because I love my work so much, I find it really hard to go out and have a good time.

“Something that I have or fear is never being able to enjoy myself. That’s my fear — that the phone’s ringing and my head’s ringing. whether it’s a telephone or it’s just the thoughts in your head, that’s another fear.”

In an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to air Friday, GaGa revealed that she felt like a “freak” during high school.

“I didn’t fit in in high school and I felt like a freak,” she said. “So I like to create this atmosphere for my fans where they feel like they have a freak in me to hang out with and they don’t feel alone.

“This is really who I am and it took a long time to be okay with that,” she said. “Because I’m sure you all… maybe in high school you, Ellen, you [felt] discriminated against.

“Like you don’t fit in and you want to be like everyone else, but not really, and in the inside you want to be like Boy George. well, I did anyway.

“So I want my fans to know that it’s okay. sometimes in life you don’t always feel like a winner but that doesn’t mean you’re not a winner. you want to be like yourself….”

Bill Drummond: 'I love Lady gaga'

Bill Drummond has said that he is a fan of Lady GaGa despite not owning any of her music.

The ex-KLF man, who produced 1988 number one single ‘Doctorin’ the Tardis’ with Timelords bandmate Jimmy Cauty, told The Quietus that he hardly listens to music anymore.

Drummond said: “It’s all been thrown out. Every time I hear recorded music it sounds, yuck, old-fashioned to me, whatever the genre is.

“I listen to stuff by accident, and I’m drawn to kind of, you know… I love Lady GaGa. Just as a pop phenomenon. I find that interesting, from what I’ve heard.

“But I mean, we both know I’m never going to be listening to a Lady GaGa CD or download or walking round the streets listening to it on an iPod, but I can still enjoy it.”

When asked if he only likes the idea of Lady GaGa, he added: “Yeah. Yeah, well, and some of the songs, you know, it kinda works. but there’s a retro thing to it that I don’t really… theoretically I don’t like the idea of retro.”

Gloriana Beat Out Lady Gaga, Keri Hilson, Kid Cudi At amas

Sunday night’s American Music Awards were so full of incredible performances — from Lady Gaga’s liberal use of pyrotechnics to Adam Lambert’s sexy display — that the actual awards given out seemed almost secondary. still, the night’s biggest upset probably belonged to country act Gloriana, who beat out Gaga (as well as R&B star Keri Hilson and rising hip-hop star Kid Cudi) for the Breakthrough Artist award.

The country group formed in 2008 when brothers Tom and Mike Gossin teamed up with singer and solo artist Cheyenne Kimball (who had first grabbed headlines as the winner of “America’s most Talented Kid” in 2002). though the Gossin brothers are from Utica, new York, they relocated to Wilmington, North Carolina, to kickstart Gloriana. Once the band recruited Rachel Reinert (whom they discovered via MySpace), they began working on songs and ended up teaming up with producer Matt Serletic (Matchbox twenty, Edwin McCain), who co-wrote their first single, “Wild at Heart.”

The song was the highest-selling country debut single of this year and landed them a spot as the opening act on Taylor Swift’s Fearless tour. The group’s self-titled debut album came out on Serletic’s Emblem Records label back in August, where it debuted at #3 on the Billboard albums chart and sold 44,000 albums. They’ll no doubt get another chart boost from their exposure on Sunday’s show.

Gloriana are currently preparing for a month-long tour of their own before they re-join Swift on the road beginning next March.

Lady Gaga announces NZ show

Stuff.co.nz

Just six months ago she was here opening for The Pussycat Dolls, but chart-topping pop star Lady Gaga is now big enough to be headlining her own show.

Lady Gaga, singer of hits Paparazzi, just Dance and Poker Face, has announced her second new Zealand performance in under a year, to be held at Auckland’s Vector Arena on March 13.

She last performed in new Zealand at the same venue as the opening act for the Pussycat Dolls on may 16, at one stage baring her bottom and simulating masturbation to the crowd.

Stuff.co.nz reviewer Clio Francis said: “With back-up dancers in tow and dressed in a kooky newspaper print one-piece, Gaga stamped her dominance on the crowd as she stormed around the stage, at one point simulating masturbation.

“She sung much of (Poker Face) standing on a stool in sky-high stilettos, bent double over the piano hammering out the keys.”

Poker Face has been a No. 1 hit in new Zealand, and her tour coincides with a re-release of her album The Fame.

Tickets for the one-off show go on sale on December 3.

Lady Gaga Performs at MOCA's Anniversary Bash

The Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles pulled out all the stops for its 30th anniversary blowout bash Saturday night.

The buzz of the evening was Lady Gaga’s performance of her new ballad, “Speechless,” as part of a production masterminded by Italian artist Francesco Vezzoli. The singer played a pink piano designed by Damien Hirst and wore a towering hat created by Frank Gehry, a mask by Baz Luhrmann and Catherine Martin, and a frothy costume by Prada. She was accompanied by a performance from the Bolshoi Ballet. The piece was appropriately titled, “Ballets Russes Italian Style (The Shortest Musical You Will Never See Again),” and, together, the elements left guests overwhelmed. “It’s a triumph,” said billionaire philanthropist Eli Broad.

Given the eclectic nature of the one-night-only presentation, the thousand-plus guest list ran the gamut — starlets Kate Bosworth, Eva Mendes and Carey Mulligan; leading men Pierce Brosnan, Kyle MacLachlan and James Franco; fashion insiders Hedi Slimane, Peter Dundas, Carine Roitfeld, Cameron Silver, Juicy Couture’s Gela Nash-Taylor and Pamela Skaist-Levy, and Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy; artists Takashi Murakami, John Baldessari, David Hockney and Ed Ruscha; movie producers Brian Grazer, Joel Silver and Ridley Scott; musicians K.D. Lang and Gavin Rossdale; scribes Gore Vidal and Diablo Cody; Ukrainian billionaire Victor Pinchuk and Kazakhstanian boxing champ Wladimir Klitschko, and L.A. Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie even dropped by to tour the museum’s new exhibition before dashing off to a friend’s wedding.

Still, it was the Lady herself who drew Jessica Alba, Gwen Stefani and Jenni Kayne. “My daughter is really jealous,” said Kate Beckinsale, who left her 10-year-old Lily home for date night with husband Len Wiseman.

Lady Gaga, for her part, said she was honored that Vezzoli chose to use “Speechless,” a love song written for her father. “I think it might change my career,” she said.

“It couldn’t have worked with anyone else,” said Vezzoli of his muse. “I wanted to have the Nijinsky of our day — the most courageous, the most daring.”

After helping MOCA raise nearly $4 million — including the $450,000 sale of the Hirst-designed piano to gallerist Larry Gagosian — Zoe Saldana, Pharrell Williams and Margherita Missoni trekked across town to join Tom Ford and Nicky Hilton for the after party hosted by Prism Gallery, Dasha Zhukova and Pop magazine.

Beyonce and Lady Gaga 'Video Phone' music video: divas that cross in the night

By Jim Farber
Daily News Music Critic

Beyonce didn’t gain much by adding Lady Gaga to her much hyped latest video.

The clip for “Video Phone” – which stars the woman also known as Sasha Fierce and features La Gaga – doesn’t offer much in the way of chemistry or even interaction between the two divas.

About half way through the five minute video, which debuted on MTV and VH1 today, Gaga shows up to mirror Beyonce’s deep gyrations and high leg kicks.

Dressed in matching white outfits, the two operate like parallel lines, mirroring each other but never intersecting.

The clip’s star, however, gets to have more fun, impersonating pioneering adult movie star Betty Paige, and teasing a bunch of guys with video camera for heads.

The latter look recalls the arty San Francisco band The Residents, who famously sport giant eyeballs for heads.

Other than that, probably unintentional allusion, the “Video Phone” clip seems about as innovative as a rotary dial up.

Hotel review: Hotel Missoni, Edinburgh – where Lady Gaga goes wild for fine …

By Sarah Turner
Last updated at 9:14 PM on 15th November 2009

Continuing our occasional series on the world’s hippest hotels and the stars who frequent them, Sarah Turner checks in to check out the Hotel Missoni, Edinburgh.

STAR QUALITY: Lady Gaga, Snow Patrol.

VITAL STATISTICS: Opened in June, this is the first in a series of hotels overseen by the cult Italian fashion label. The bar, off the main lobby, has a catwalk quality, with giant vases, chairs suitable only for contortionists and chain-mail curtains.

Hotel Missoni: A riot of colour and pattern in the Scottish capital

La Cucina, the hotel’s restaurant, is deliberately relaxed, withfood that is designed to be shared by the whole table. Hearty dishesinclude rabbit with polenta and risotto, followed by tiramisu – LadyGaga hosted a dinner party here when she booked in.

Breakfast isn’t for size zeros either, with fry-ups as well as aselection of Italian pastries and cakes. The 136 rooms and suitesreinforce the fashion brand’s roots with a very complicated espressomachine. Emptying the minibar is included in the room rate, but it is -slightly disappointingly – stocked only with beer, fruit juice andwater. Wi-fi is also free, and there’s no charge for more than 100films on demand.

LOCATION REPORT: Havingreplaced an anonymous office block, the large windows make the most ofthe commanding views of Edinburgh. Christmas kicks off from November26. Edinburgh’s main Christmas tree at St Giles’ Cathedral will be astroll away and it’s a short walk to Princes Gardens, which will have afunfair, grotto and Christmas market. Nearby, the funkier boutiques ofVictoria Street lead to the Grassmarket – many rooms have views ofArthur’s Seat. The D’Argento penthouse suite has a balcony and on aclear day you can see all the way to Fife.

KEY ATTRACTION: It’s achance to eat, breathe, but – above all – sleep fashion. Most newhotels opt for a safe-but-dull palette of white and beige. The Missoni, however, is alive with colour and pattern, from the jewel-colouredbathrooms to the striped lifts. Many fashion houses, particularlyVersace, have tried to branch out into hotels, but the Missoni familyhave attached more than their name to the project. Instead, they havedesigned everything from the bedlinen and bathroom blinds to thenapkins in the restaurant, intoxicating and amusing in equal measure.

IN THE NEWS: Musicians LadyGaga and Snow Patrol stayed during the summer’s T In The Park festival, only to find themselves wearing their striped and highly fashionableMissoni dressing gowns (170) in the street after a false fire alarmthat caused the building to be evacuated.

Red hot: Lady Gaga has stayed at the Hotel Missoni

GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE REST OF US?If you can’t afford the room rates, the bar has become an integral partof the Edinburgh scene. Rooms start at 210. Details: 0131 220 6666,hotelmissoni.com. PHOTO GALLERY: Lady GaGa in Vogue Magazine

Lady GaGa goes from gothic bondage to femme-fatale fairy tale in the December 2009 issue of Vogue magazine. After appearing in the British, French and Japanese editions, GaGa has finally snagged an editorial in the American edition and she’s not holding back. Looks like Anna Wintour hasn’t lost her edge.

The spread puts a fierce, haute couture spin on the childhood fable Hansel and Gretel. Delicate pale ruffles, dangerously dark lips and sky-high heels are incorporated in the feature, and hit every trend of the season. Additionally, Annie Leibovitz’s brilliant photography captured a kitschy twist on the image of Lady GaGa, utilizing kitchen utensils to ever-so-fashionably dominate Hansel. Not to mention, burning in a fiery oven has never looked so good. GaGa was even able to stick to her strict “no pants” policy.

Both Lady GaGa and Vogue seem to have stepped out of their element here. Perhaps just in time for the November 23 release of Gaga’s new album, The Fame Monster.

Not to say Vogue isn’t reaping the benefits of this twisted, yet bold, statement as well.

Which party seems to be benefiting more from this inimitable collaboration? Share your thoughts in the comments section.

Spoiler Chat: Lady Gaga Gets in on Gossip Girl Threesome!

Tim in Bowling Green, Ohio: I’m curious, is Dexter more interested in Trinity as a mentor or as a nemesis?
We just saw Michael C. Hall himself and asked him this and he told us, “Both, as is often the case with Dexter. I think the only answer I can give you is both. What’s really fun about it is Dexter as an equal amount of reverence and disdain for the character and those things are commingled in the relationship.”

Jackie in San Francisco: Does Debs search for her dads confidential informants change her relationship with her brother?
We were wondering the same thing, and Jennifer Carpenter told us, “It has to, because it changes her relationship with herself, and it changes her relationship with her father.”

Randall in New York: Last week’s Supernatural was unbelievable! So hilarious and so well done. Got any scoop on what’s next?
According to my mole: There is an episode coming next year in which Anna returns and wants to kill Sam, so he doesn’t say yes to Lucifer. She travels back in time to kill Mary and John Winchester, so Dean and Sam go back in time to try and stop her. So does that mean we’ll see Jeffrey Dean Morgan again? Sadly, no, as it will be “young John” and “young Mary.” For the record, CW, I like my John W. old and scruffy and JDM-y!
