There are winter solstices and then there are ’soul-tresses’, ha! Lady Gaga clearly is on a fast track to world domination. She named her first album The Fame long before she could lay any claim the illusion, the album sold over 4.5 million copies worldwide, which makes her eight-song follow-up all that more intriguing. Gaga kinda comes across as an eclectic mix of Ace of Base with a huge helping of Amy Winehouse – expect, to see lots of blood, fire, wicked piano playing, way too many crotch shots, and maybe a few members of the Paparazzi. but hey, that’s Lady Gaga for you. Lady Gaga’s, the Monster Ball Tour will land at the Air Canada Centre on November 28 More on Lady Gaga’s the Monster Ball Tour here

Step forward, step back and maybe take a ride on a disco stick, because it’s time for The Almighty Ball!!! So get your cameras ready there’ll be lots of PYT’s vying to win the vogueing competition. the Almighty Ball takes place at the Gladstone Ballroom on November 28 More on the Almighty Ball here. Or maybe you just need a good dose of Deep Dish. Deep Dish spend their days touring the globe and remixing tracks for the likes of Madonna, The Rolling Stones and Brother Brown. the duo even won a Grammy in 2002 for their remix of Dido’s Thank You. Deep Dish will perform at the Guvernment on November 28 More on Deep Dish here

Lady GaGa: 'You Won't See me Falling Out of Clubs'

LADY GaGa insists you’ll never see a photo of her falling out of a nightclub — because she’s too focused on her career to go out every night and get drunk.

“I don’t go to nightclubs,” said the Bad Romance singer. “You don’t see pictures of me falling out of a club drunk. I don’t go — and that’s because I usually go and then, you know, a whiskey and a half into it, I got to get back to work. because I love my work so much, I find it really hard to go out and have a good time.

“Something that I have or fear is never being able to enjoy myself. That’s my fear — that the phone’s ringing and my head’s ringing. whether it’s a telephone or it’s just the thoughts in your head, that’s another fear.”

In an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to air Friday, GaGa revealed that she felt like a “freak” during high school.

“I didn’t fit in in high school and I felt like a freak,” she said. “So I like to create this atmosphere for my fans where they feel like they have a freak in me to hang out with and they don’t feel alone.

“This is really who I am and it took a long time to be okay with that,” she said. “Because I’m sure you all… maybe in high school you, Ellen, you [felt] discriminated against.

“Like you don’t fit in and you want to be like everyone else, but not really, and in the inside you want to be like Boy George. well, I did anyway.

“So I want my fans to know that it’s okay. sometimes in life you don’t always feel like a winner but that doesn’t mean you’re not a winner. you want to be like yourself….”

Songs that go ra-ra-ro-ga-ga and ba-da-ba-da-ba

Lady Gaga – Bad Romance
It seems the Gaga may need a bit of a break. She’s clearly being worked to the limit, and if the “ra-ra-ro-ga-ga” in the opening bars isn’t a serious cry for help then I don’t know what is. not that you can blame the singer for wanting to capitalise on her golden moment in the spotlight, but her packed work schedule might explain why her latest assemblage of electro-beats and big, BIG chorus sounds like it was rushed off in about five minutes. in the hype that surrounded the release of the video – that hair! Those clothes! – it seems somebody forgot to mention that the song is pap.

Paramore – Brick by Boring Brick
Remember how utterly dreadful your adolescence was? Well, if you can’t, Paramore are here to bring it all back home. how depressing. with it’s tumbling drums, shrieking vocals and rousing “ba-da-ba-ba-da-ba” battlecry, Brick by Boring Brick is the emo-strewn noise of raging hormones imprisoned in cloying suburbia. It’s a sound that speaks to 13-year-olds from Arkansas, but prompts anybody over 25 to ask: “Is this that Avril Lavigne?”

Erik Hassle – Hurtful
Swedish singer Erik Hassle sounds like a male version of Robyn. were we blessed with the same reviewing skills as Raygun (remember them?), we might even go as far to say he sounds like “Basshunter and Mika in a lift”. Of course, you may think you don’t like this electro-pop ballad now (re-released this month after making the Swedish charts last year), but just wait till you’re listening to it in the back of a cab after a late one. You’ll be silently weeping at this homage to lost love.
Watch the video for Hurtful

Sting – Soul Cake
Far be it for me to speak ill of the dead, but this song was bad enough when Peter, Paul and Mary (RIP) recorded it in the 1960s. It’s the kind of giddy hey-nonny-nonsense that gave folk music a bad name, so you can only imagine how dreadful it is now that Sting’s got his hands on it. the Police singer lifts the melody and samples lyrics from the original for his own uniquely creepy-sounding version. And every time he sings “Soul cake” it’s like fingernails being dragged down the blackboard that is your soul.

Flo Rida and Akon – Available
In a parallel universe, this hideous construction of chords and melody might actually pass for music. It’s probably the same universe where lyrics such as “I ain’t got no girlfriend … let me put your number in my iPhone baby” pass for poetry. And in this horrendous alternative reality no art is considered as great as that touched by the producing hand of Will.I.Am (he pops up near the end for a bit of a boast). the only thing that’s worse than this song is the accompanying video, which appears to have been filmed on a child’s mobile phone.

Lady Gaga Is Ineligible For Best New Artist Grammy in 2010

Few new artists in recent years have made an impact on the pop music scene as quickly as Lady Gaga, who won the Best new Artist VMA this September. But her catchy #1 hits and unpredictable performances aren’t enough to make her eligible for the new artist category at next year’s Grammy Awards.

According to Variety, because her song “Just Dance” was nominated for best dance recording at this year’s Grammy Awards, regulations state that the singer can’t be placed on the ballot as a new artist this January. she lost the Grammy last year to Daft Punk for their song “Harder Better faster Stronger.”

Recently, Gaga sat down with MTV News to discuss the onslaught of accolades she’s received in the last year since breaking out on the scene as a leotard-wearing disco queen with her album The Fame and then elevating her act to avant-garde performance art.

“[I also want something that] isn’t this Hollywood kind of future that we imagine all pop stars go to,” explained Gaga, whose The Fame Monster rerelease comes out next Monday. “I have to find my own space. I try to reject all of that. I try to stay internal and just focus on myself.”

Beyonce and Lady Gaga 'Video Phone' music video: divas that cross in the night

By Jim Farber
Daily News Music Critic

Beyonce didn’t gain much by adding Lady Gaga to her much hyped latest video.

The clip for “Video Phone” – which stars the woman also known as Sasha Fierce and features La Gaga – doesn’t offer much in the way of chemistry or even interaction between the two divas.

About half way through the five minute video, which debuted on MTV and VH1 today, Gaga shows up to mirror Beyonce’s deep gyrations and high leg kicks.

Dressed in matching white outfits, the two operate like parallel lines, mirroring each other but never intersecting.

The clip’s star, however, gets to have more fun, impersonating pioneering adult movie star Betty Paige, and teasing a bunch of guys with video camera for heads.

The latter look recalls the arty San Francisco band The Residents, who famously sport giant eyeballs for heads.

Other than that, probably unintentional allusion, the “Video Phone” clip seems about as innovative as a rotary dial up.

Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga are not dead – and neither were these …

Worried fans were desperate to find out if reports that she’d been hit by a truck were true.

They weren’t. And neither were last year’s rumours that she’d passed away.

Meanwhile, the Taylor Swift rumours may have stemmed from her recent role in hit TV show CSI, in which she played someone who was stabbed to death.

And now Lady Gaga has joined the bandwagon – with ‘Lady Gaga dead’ appearing as one of Google’s Hot Trends.

Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, George Clooney and Harrison Ford have also been at the centre of ‘are they dead?’ rumours on the net.

And there are more besides. Here we look at the top 10 online celebrity deaths.

It’s a grave matter, but somebody has to do it.

Jeff Goldblum

It was claimed in June 2009 and spread on Twitter that the Jurassic Park star had plunged to his death from a cliff-edge while filming in New Zealand. He hadn’t. The Australian Today Show reporter who broke the story was reading from a spoof report.

Tom Hanks

Cliffs again. Actor Tom was said to have fallen to his death off the Kauri Cliffs in New Zealand three years ago. Needless to say, it was complete fiction.

Tom Cruise

The Tom Hanks cliffs – the sequel. This time online rumours circulated that the Mission Impossible star had fallen off the very same cliffs that Tom Hanks had. But his publicist Jeff Raymond quashed the false stories.

‘This is completely not true. Tom is not in New Zealand nor has he been there recently.’This is erroneous and unreliable internet garbage,’ he said.

Natalie Portman

Rumours that the Star Wars actress had snuffed it on a movie set in June this year were found to be entirely untrue.

George Clooney

The movie star’s publicist Stan Rosenfield was left stunned in July this year when hundreds of reporters jammed his line asking whether his A-list client was dead.

Matt Damon

He won an Oscar for Good Will Hunting, starred in the Bourne trilogy and definitely didn’t die this September. When rumours circulated that he’d moved ‘upstairs’, he was actually alive and well and enjoying the Venice Film Festival.

Kanye West

It was circulated on the net chiefly on Twitter that the hip hop star had died in a car crash in Los Angeles. Not true.

Harrison Ford

This one surfaced on Twitter this summer. The rumours stated that the Indiana Jones actor had perished on board a yacht watering off St Tropez. Whoever started this rumour was gravely mistaken.

Rick Astley

It was reported on CNN’s iReport this summer that popster Rick Astley was found at the Angleterre Hotel in Berlin and pronounced dead at the scene. Very untrue indeed.

Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake

Okay, so that technically makes it 11 celebrities, but you can let us off because this 2001 rumour stated that Britney and Justin had died together in a car accident in LA. Pranksters even put the story into a spoof version of a BBC News Online web page.

'New Moon' Premiere Anticipation And Lady Gaga Day Tops Today's Tweet Dreams

As we count down to “New Moon” finally hitting theaters (four days to go….well…three if you’re planning on hitting up a midnight show like us) the stars of the “Twilight” series are gearing up for tonight’s big Los Angeles premiere (we’ll be live blogging, so check back with us at 8pm EST!) While Alex Meraz heads into tonight’s festivities relaxed and ready, explaining, “Just getting outta the shower about to eat my WHEATIES I’m gonna need it today.” Peter Facinelli opted to take a more stressful approach, tweeting, “Many people wonder what celebs do the morning of their movie premiere. I would like know 2, seeing how I’m at the DMV renewing my license.” “Aliens in the Attic” star Carter Jenkins might not be a Cullen or a wolfpack member, but he still gets to party at tonight’s big event, bragging, “Goodbye concrete jungle. Headed home. Then going to the New Moon premiere tonight.”

While the eyes of Hollywood fix themselves on today’s impending hysteria, there was still plenty going on around the Twitterverse. Just ask the Jonas Brothers, who reached a Twitter benchmark today, announcing, “Thanks to all of our incredible fans, we now have over 1 Million followers on Twitter! You all rock!!!- JB.” And, it may not be an official holiday, “The Office” star Rainn Wilson declared, “Today I dedicate to Lady Gaga.” So, Lady Gaga (pictured) we hope you enjoy your very own day (courtesy of Dwight Schrute!)

Spoiler Chat: Lady Gaga Gets in on Gossip Girl Threesome!

Tim in Bowling Green, Ohio: I’m curious, is Dexter more interested in Trinity as a mentor or as a nemesis?
We just saw Michael C. Hall himself and asked him this and he told us, “Both, as is often the case with Dexter. I think the only answer I can give you is both. What’s really fun about it is Dexter as an equal amount of reverence and disdain for the character and those things are commingled in the relationship.”

Jackie in San Francisco: Does Debs search for her dads confidential informants change her relationship with her brother?
We were wondering the same thing, and Jennifer Carpenter told us, “It has to, because it changes her relationship with herself, and it changes her relationship with her father.”

Randall in New York: Last week’s Supernatural was unbelievable! So hilarious and so well done. Got any scoop on what’s next?
According to my mole: There is an episode coming next year in which Anna returns and wants to kill Sam, so he doesn’t say yes to Lucifer. She travels back in time to kill Mary and John Winchester, so Dean and Sam go back in time to try and stop her. So does that mean we’ll see Jeffrey Dean Morgan again? Sadly, no, as it will be “young John” and “young Mary.” For the record, CW, I like my John W. old and scruffy and JDM-y!
